Tetris DS is an example of a game that has been upgraded to take advantage of the DS's control system while maintaining some of the same old gameplay. There are a few new features and modes but nothing that makes the gameplay entirely unique.
About Genre Puzzle Rating Rated 'E' Summary A new portable edition of the world's most renown puzzle game. Each of the DS version's six modes of play features a theme based on a classic Nintendo game, such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda or Metroid. The traditional Tetriminos (falling blocks) and line-clearing strategy remain the staples of the game, but the touch screen adds a new element of interactivity. Some modes give players special Tetris puzzles to solve. Others feature head-to-head action between two players, or massive wireless battles between 10 DS users (even if only one player has a game card). Players also can log onto Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to compete in two- or four-player battles. Tetris DS even includes a point-based rating system based on players' battle results.
Opponents can see one another's ratings, which indicate their skill levels.

My most favorite Tetris game is the original one for the Game Boy, but because it has no highscores I don't want to download the Virtual Console game. Now there are two Tetris games on the 3DS and there is one for the original DS, which has great reviews.Mainly I want to play Classic Mode and Singleplayer. But if additional modes are good I will enjoy them too. Additionally my girlfriend has a 3DS and I can Imagine to play multiplayer with her sometimes.
Therefore I would enjoy a good multiplayer too (maybe one where you didnt need a second physical copy).Which Tetris game would you suggest?. Whatever you get, I'd get it from the eShop and install it internally instead of going for a cartridge. Tetris is a game that's suited for grabbing a few minutes of play while waiting in line or something, so it's good to make sure you always have it with you.(And IMHO, the best version ever was the one for the GameBoy Color, though the reasons don't matter quite as much anymore - it was virtually identical to the original, minor colorizations, but had better support for turning it off and then picking it back up again later.
A large multiplayer online horse world where players can capture, train, care for and compete their horses against other players. A very unique, safe, educational, and fun horse game. The Lands of Horse Isle: HI1-The Secret Land of Horses and HI2-The Legend of the Esrohs.
A multiplayer online horse world where players can capture, train, care for and compete their horses against other players. A very unique virtual sim horse game. Horse Isle is a vast multi-player horse based world. It allows for many players to interact while searching for wild horses roaming the lands. Once you have a horse, you can train it, take care of it, and compete with other players.
This was great back when I played it while using the bus to commute to work.). Ok, so I play a lot of tetris, and I own, and have put many hours into tetris ds, tetris axis and tetris ultimate, and here's my breakdown of the games. For general, casual play, for most people, tetris DS is going to be the most fun. That game was very good, and can even be played decently competitively as well. If you're more of a casual tetris player (which I would assume you are, or you would already own all the games:P), then tetris DS is probably your best bet. Keep in mind that the nintendo wifi for original DS games has been taken down, so you will not be able to play online normally, however normal local play is just fine.
The one gripe I have with tetris DS is the lack of basic tetris modes. It doesn't even have a 'race' (or 40 line) mode which is extremely dissapointing. It does has 5 game modes, which is pretty lacking for a tetris game, but regardless, with the records system in that game, it keeps you entertained. As I said, this is a VERY fun tetris game, but not without its faults, and I think this would probably be the best option for casual tetris. The controls/animations are also very tight in this game which is a plus.Tetris axis was a bit of a let down (for me) to be honest.
It's definitely the 'party' tetris game. It has LOTS of different modes, including some extremely unique ones that I've never seen before. However, the multiplayer battle (or vs or whatever you want to call it) is completely broken (there's an item that switches your board with an opponent, so you basically mess up your own board, send it to your opponent and win), although it's pretty doubtful you will even find anyone online with that game anymore anyways.
With that said this game has all of your essential tetris modes as well, so it's not lacking there, however the gameplay leaves something to be desired. For some reason, 90% of the audio sounds like christmas music and the visuals leave much to be desired. It's hard to explain, but the controls don't feel 'tight' like a tetris game should, and there are lots of flash and unnecessary effects that are simply annoying and distracting (like a large splat of rainbow particles that appears EVERY time you hard drop a piece).
There is also a lot of wasted screen real estate which is unfortunate since the tetris playing field itself feels so small. With that said, this game is perfectly playable competitively as well since you can get used to the effects and simply not play the battle mode with items when you're doing something like local play.Tetris ultimate is the tetris game for the truly competitive tetris player. It's a no-nonesense tetris game that hits the basics with nothing fancy. It has a very good records system, that statistically speaking, is probably the best out of the 3 games, and it even has a very functional online leaderboard with the ability to save/rewatch/download/play against replays of tetris games, which is a neat feature. While this game is lacking in gimmicky/unique tetris modes, it hits the important basic modes, as well as 4 'challenge modes' which is plenty for your competitive needs (6 main modes, these being marathon, sprint (aka 40 lines), endless, ultra, battle, and battle ultimate, and 4 challenge modes being rotation lock, invisible, escalation, and master).
And it does these modes RIGHT. The gameplay is very good as well.
The audio is about the most bland thing on planet earth, so keep that in mind, but the controls feel very tight and it displays all the important stats in an extremely effective way. It does have some visual effects, but they are kept to a minimum (and most can be turned off in settings). I should also mention that this game has the most gameplay customization BY FAR. In fact, its options rival competitive PC tetris games such as nullpomino. For example, you can customize how it randomly draws pieces (classic, single bag, etc), all of the movement speeds/sensitivities, the lockdown mechanics, the type of rotating, and so much more.
It's very clear that this game was built for tetris enthusiasts that really get into tetris beyond just the casual scene. This is the only game out of the 3 where you could actually find enough people playing online to be able to join a random game online, and the online works well. This game also does have achievements (called badges), although the badges would push even the best tetris players to their limits, and I can assure that you will not be coming even close to completing the badges for this game.
Like I mentioned before, this game also keeps very good records/stats, definitely the best/most detailed out of the 3 games.Keep in mind that all 3 of these games have local download play, so you can always play with your friends with any of these games, although tetris ultimate is really the only game where you will be able to find people online all the time to play with. With that said, what should you get? Well it comes down to this: If you're a more casual tetris player, but you still like tetris for tetris (aka you don't like tetris for the gimmick modes), then Tetris DS is definitely the choice to go with, and I believe this would be the best choice for most people. If you like tetris casually, and you love the gimmick/party modes too, then tetris Axis has you covered with it's immense library of different modes, and it can still do the basics decent as well. If you like tetris for tetris, and you're all in it for the competition, and you hate all those gimmick modes, and you just want to be able to play tetris, while being able to customize your gameplay experience through the extensive settings, as well as maybe playing online, then tetris ultimate is the best option. I will give a fair warning though that if you're a more casual tetris player, I do believe tetris ultimate may come off as a bit bland since it is such a primitive/simple game compared to other console tetris games.Sorry I wrote so much, I got a bit carried away since I love tetris so much (also why I own the ds game and both 3ds games). If you were wondering, for me personally, I like tetris ultimate the most, but it's admittedly not for most people.
You would have to be a fairly competitive/hardcore tetris player to prefer ultimate over tetris DS.Note: There's also puyo puyo tetris, but it's japan only (you need a japanese 3ds to play it since 3ds games are region locked), and it's mo.
